Custom solid wood mantles available in most any size or timber. Standard woods are black walnut, cherry or white oak. Please contact regarding other domestic or exotic timbers. 

Every effort is made to source the highest quality boards to create the most beautiful piece possible. I always use single, wide boards rather than gluing multiple boards together whenever possible. These wide boards cost a premium, but give a much better looking piece. 

I use a special joint called a lockmiter which gives a seamless result and creates the strongest mantle box possible. The front face board is wrapped around the sides to continue the grain pattern creating a "waterfall" effect. It's beautiful! 

Less expensive mantles are not built with this attention to detail. This is a focal point for the home and should be approached with a critical eye. 

Unless otherwise requested, mantles are finished with a hardwax oil that it supple to the touch, durable and easy to repair. Another good option for a finish is lacquer, though the price is a bit higher because of the application process.
